A resolution Recognizing the Janesville Foundation, Inc. as a Janesville Good
Citizen

WHEREAS, the Janesville Foundation, Inc., created by the Parker Pen Company, was
incorporated in 1944 with a vision to make Janesville a better, more economically sound
community in which to live and work; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Foundation, Inc. celebrated their sixtieth year on February
29, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Foundation, Inc. has donated nearly $2 million to City of
Janesville projects including funds to renovate the Hedberg Public Library, to implement
the City's Riverfront Strategy and to assist with construction of Peace Park Playground;
and
WHEREAS, recent donations have provided funds to area organizations such as Rotary
Gardens, the Janesville Performing Arts Center and the YMCA/Boys & Girls Club;
additionally the Foundation has awarded over 900 scholarships to graduating Janesville
high school seniors; and
WHEREAS, it is desired that such commendable service to the community and the
residents of Janesville be properly recognized; and
WHEREAS, the contributions of the Janesville Foundation, Inc. are in the finest tradition
of "Good Citizenship".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of
Janesville, that all Janesville citizens are called upon to acknowledge and thank the
Janesville Foundation, Inc. for its instrumental role in the high quality of life area
residents enjoy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council to express their appreciation
to the Janesville Foundation, Inc. for its contribution to the City of Janesville and hereby
recognize the Janesville Foundation, Inc. as a
"Janesville Good Citizen"
