2004-8RESOLUTION NO. 2004-008 A resolution authorizing the creation of a Congressional Medal of Honor Walkway at Veterans Plaza in Traxler Park (File Resolution No. 2004-008) WHEREAS, the Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force that can be awarded to an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville currently has six Medal of Honor Recipients; and WHEREAS, a fitting tribute to those recipient's courage and sacrifice is appropriate; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Patriotic Society has voluntarily planned a walkway which will honor the Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients. NOW, THEREFORE, LET BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of Janesville, on the 26th day of January, the Janesville Patriotic Society be authorized to implement a Congressional Medal of Honor Walkway at Veterans Plaza in Traxler Park to commemorate the service of Janesville's six Medal of Honor recipients; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council that the Janesville Patriotic Society shall obtain City Council approval of the final plans prior to the start of fundraising. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council that all Janesville citizens are called upon to especially thank and appreciate the Janesville Patriotic Society's efforts to recognize the Medal of Honor Recipients in our community.
