2016-1289 RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -1289 A Resolution recognizing SHINE Medical Technologies for receipt of their U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) construction permit WHEREAS, SHINE Medical Technologies (SHINE) is a Wisconsin -based company dedicated to being the world leader in the safe, clean, affordable production of medical tracers and cancer treatment elements; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville and SHINE entered into a TIF Development Agreement in February of 2012 for the construction of a medical isotope manufacturing facility in Janesville, Wisconsin; and WHEREAS, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission authorized the issuance of SHINE's construction permit in February of 2016; and WHEREAS, SHINE is the only U.S. medical isotope producer to have reached this stage of the NRC permitting process since the 1960s; and WHEREAS, the issuance of the construction permit is the culmination of more than four years of effort by both SHINE and the NRC following two years of environmental data collection and safety analysis by SHINE, as well as two years of rigorous safety and environmental reviews by the NRC; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Common Council of the City of Janesville does hereby recognize SHINE Medical Technologies for receipt of theft U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission construction permit and wishes them continued success in the future.
