2015-1259 RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -1259
A Resolution Adopting the City of Janesville's 2016 Federal and State Legislative Agendas
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville's mission is to innovatively provide effective municipal
services that are responsive to the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors and delivered in a
reliable, efficient manner in order to sustain Janesville as the community of choice.
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville can more effectively carry out its mission when federal and
state laws support and assist the City in providing reliable, efficient, effective and responsive services.
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville Common Council and Administration have a responsibility to
represent the interests of the City and Janesville's citizens by advocating legislative priorities to the
federal and state government; and
WHEREAS, City of Janesville staff identified the most important City - related issues over which
Janesville's elected federal and state officials can affect change in 2016; and
WHEREAS, the federal and state legislative agendas set forth shall be communicated to
federal and state legislators and shall assist City Councilmembers, staff and citizens as federal and
state legislators are engaged; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
said City Council hereby adopts the 2016 Federal and State Legislative Agendas, and further
authorizes the City Manager and /or his designees to work with the City's federal and state legislators
to promote the City's legislative priorities.
