An ordinance changing the zoning classification of property located within the 300-500
blocks of South Pearl Street from M1 and M2 to R2, with a penalty and injunctive relief for
a violation thereof as set forth in Section 18.28.010 of the Code of General Ordinances of
the City of Janesville.
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVlLLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The zoning classification of the following described property is hereby changed
from M2, General Industrial District, to R2, Limited General Residence District:
Part of the SEN of Section 35 T.3N., R.12E. of the 4th P.M., Janesville Township, Rock County,
Wisconsin.
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: Commencing at the northwest corner of Lot 11, Block 19, Smith's
Addition; thence Westerly along the north line of said Lot 11 extended, a distance of 33 feet
more or less to the centerline of South Pearl Street, also being the Point of Beginning; thence
continuing Westerly, a distance of 33 feet more or less to the northeast corner of Lot 4, Block
20, Smith's Addition; thence Westerly along the north line of said Lot 4, a distance of 35.89 feet
to the east line of Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad property; thence Southwesterly along said
east line, a distance of 158 feet more or less to the north line of Lot 6, Block 20, Smith's
Addition; thence Westerly along said north line, a distance of 12 feet more or less to the
northwest corner of said Lot 6; thence Southerly along the west line of said Lot 6 and said west
line extended, a distance of 332 feet more or less to the east line of Union Pacific Railroad
property; thence Northeasterly along said east line, a distance of 173 feet more or less to the
north line of Lot 1, Block 13, Smith's Addition; thence continuing Northeasterly, a distance of 42
feet more or less to the centerline of Johnson Street; thence Easterly along said centerline, a
distance of 33 feet more or less to the centerline of South Pearl Street; thence Northerly along
said centerline, a distance of 291 feet more or less to the point of beginning.
SECTION II. The zoning classification of the following described property is hereby changed
from M1, Light Industrial District, to R2, Limited General Residence District:
Part of the SEN of Section 35 T.3N., R.12E. of the 4th P.M., Janesville Township, Rock County,
Wisconsin.
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: Beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 4, Block 4, Smith's
Addition; thence Easterly along the south line of said Lot 4, a distance of 132.27 feet to the
southeast corner of said Lot 4; thence continuing Easterly, a distance of 33 feet more or less to
the centerline of South Pearl Street; thence Northerly along said centerline, a distance of 661
feet more or less to the centerline of Johnson Street; thence Westerly along said centerline, a
distance of 33 feet more or less to the west right-of-way line of South Pearl Street extended;
thence Southwesterly, a distance of 42 feet more or less to the north line of Lot 1, Block 13 of
Smith's Addition; thence continuing Southwesterly along the east line of Union Pacific Railroad
property, a distance of 173 feet more or less to the west line of Lot 3, Block 13, Smith's Addition;
thence continuing Southwesterly, a distance of 127 feet more or less to the north line of Lot 6,
Block 13, Smith's Addition; thence Easterly along said north line, a distance of 26.00 feet;
thence Southwesterly long the east line of Union Pacific Railroad property, a distance of 75 feet
more or less to the south line of said Lot 6; thence Westerly along said south line, a distance of
30 feet more or less to the southwest corner of said Lot 6; thence Southerly along the west line
of said Lot 6 extended, a distance of 83 feet more or less to the northwest corner or Lot 2.2.,
Block 4, Smith's Addition; thence Westerly along the north line of said Lot 22 extended, a
distance of 33 feet more or less to the centerline of South Chatham Street; thence Southerly
along said centerline, a distance of 60.05 feet; thence Easterly, a distance of 33 feet more or
less to the southwest corner of said Lot 22; thence Easterly along the south line of said Lot 22,
a distance of 132 feet more or less to the southeast corner of said Lot 22; thence Southerly
along the east line of said Lot 22 extended, a distance of 180.24 feet to the Point of Beginning.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Common
Council, the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good order, public benefit, and police
power so requiring.
