2015-1227 CITY OF JANESVILLE RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -1227 A Resolution recognizing September 29, 2015 as "Day Without Violence" in the City of Janesville. WHEREAS, Violence hurts everyone and has a profound effect on children, adults, communities and institutions; and WHEREAS, Janesville values and strides for neighborhoods free from the harmful effects of violence; and WHEREAS, Janesville prides itself on being a leader and example to other communities; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville supports the mission of "Day Without Violence" to eliminate violence in our nation, state and community; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville will be part of a coordinated effort to have each city within Wisconsin establish a citywide "Day Without Violence" on September 29, followed by a statewide "Day Without Violence" on September 30, and the national "Day Without Violence" on October 1. On October 2, the United States, along with the other countries of the world, will celebrate the U.N. International Day of Non - Violence, already established on October 2; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville recognizes that all people should feel safe in their community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville on this 28th day of September, 2015, that the day of September 29th, 2015, be recognized as a "Day Without Violence" in the City of Janesville; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council to call upon all Janesville citizens to support a "Day Without Violence" by being civic to everyone residing or visiting the Janesville community.
