2015-1228 RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -1228
A resolution authorizing the City Manager to proceed with the conveyance of property located at
127 North Terrace Street to The Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development.
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville owns the following described parcel:
Lot 36, Mitchell's Second Addition, to the City of Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin.
For informational purposes: 127 N. Terrace Street, Janesville, WI 53548; Tax Key No. 241 - 0135200641.
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville acquired the property located at 127 North Terrace Street in December
of 2009, through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, with the intention of demolishing the structures
and donating the lot to a not - for - profit organization for redevelopment purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has demolished the single family and garage structures that were built
on the site; and
WHEREAS, on August 19, 2015, the Janesville Community Development Authority accepted a proposal
from The Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development, Inc. for the new construction of a single family
home using 2015 budgeted HOME funds to support the project; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development has prepared plans for the construction
of a new single family home under the HOME Investment Partnership Program; and
WHEREAS, the property located at 127 North Terrace Street is a desirable residential redevelopment
site: and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Janesville to convey 127 North Terrace Street to The
Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development for construction of a single - family home: and,
WHEREAS, the newly constructed home will be sold to an income eligible party under the HOME
Investment Partnership Program guidelines: and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Janesville that it
hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager and the City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City of
Janesville, the conveyance of such property; and to negotiate and execute such documents, papers and
forms as may from time to time be necessary and /or desirable to effectuate such transaction and the
intent of this resolution as the City Manager may decide; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to take whatever other actions
or to make whatever other minor changes that may be necessary to effectuate this land transaction.
