2015-590 ORDINANCE NO. 2015 - 590 An ordinance amending the dog and cat licensing requirements in the City of Janesville with penalties as set forth in JGO S. 04.180 and 6.04.120. THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Section 5.04.180 (I) of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: I. Dogs and cats (Section 6.04.0120) 1. Keeping of a neutered male or spayed female dog or cat $10.00 $8.00 per year 2. Keeping of an unsprayed female or unneutered male dog or cat $20.00 $4-370.0 per year 3. One half of these amounts if the dog or cat became 5 months of age after July 1st 4.3. Extra $10.00 in each case if not paid by April l SECTION II. Section 6.04.020 of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: 6.04.020 Licenses Statute compliance Rabies vaccination. A. All dogs and cats must be licensed as follows: The owner or possessor of a dog or cat more than five months of age on January 1st of any year or five months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog or cat becomes five months of age, pay the license tax and obtain a license. B. The license tax shall be established from time to time by the common council by ordinance - . . • . - - . - ... • -: - .. - . - - • - _ . . - . . . -- - -- -, and shall reflect higher fees for dogs and cats which are not spayed or neutered. C. The rules, regulations and procedures as described by the Wisconsin Statutes shall govern as applicable. D. All dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies. No license shall be issued unless the dog or cat is vaccinated and sufficient proof of vaccination is presented with the license application. E. The Clerk - Treasurer may permit the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin to be a collecting official on behalf of the City pursuant to Section 174.065(1) of the Wisconsin statutes as amended from time to time and may issue licenses for dogs and cats newly adopted from the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin in accord with Janesville ordinances and Wisconsin statutes. All dog and cat licensing taxes and fees shall be paid to the City. (Ord. 84 380 s. 2, 1984). SECTION III. This ordinance shall take effect on December 1, 2015.
