2015-1173 RESOLUTION No. 2015 -1173
A Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Use -Lease Agreement with the
Wisconsin Hockey Partners, LLC
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville, a Wisconsin Municipal Corporation (CoJ) owns and
operates a public recreational facility known as the Janesville Ice Arena located at 821 Beloit Avenue
in the City of Janesville, County of Rock, State of Wisconsin 53545; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Hockey Partners, LLC (WHP), a Wisconsin domestic limited liability
company, organized and operate a Junior A Hockey Team in Janesville known as the Janesville Jets:
and
WHEREAS, the WHP has used and leased, and wishes to continue to use and lease, the
Janesville Ice Center from the CoJ as its home ice facility upon certain modified terms and conditions
than those set forth in the original and extended Lease Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the CoJ and the WHP have renegotiated a one (1) year contract renewal
agreement that contain those modifications, including, but not limited to, WHP's automatic option to
renew after the first renewal year; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council hereby find that it is in the best interest of the CoJ and
community to continue to allow the Junior A Hockey Team Janesville Jets to conduct team practices,
home games, clinics, and other ice hockey related activities at the Janesville Ice Arena upon those
modified renewal terms and conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the CoJ that they hereby
approve the proposed renewal Lease Use Agreement of the Janesville Ice Arena with the WHP, and
further authorize the City Manager and /or his designee to execute the proposed Lease Use
Agreement with the WHP; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and /or his designees are hereby
authorized, from time to time and at any time, to negotiate, renew, amend, execute, and enter into
such modifications, documents, papers, agreements, and forms, and to take whatever other actions
that the City Manager may determine necessary, desirable, and /or beneficial to effectuate the uses,
lease, Agreement, and /or intent of this Resolution.
