A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE 2000 GENERAL FUND
BUDGET-CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT TO THE 2000 GENERAL FUND BUDGET-HIGHWAY 11
BYPASS ACCOUNT
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville, the Town of Rock, the Town of La Prairie, Town of Janesville and
two Janesville property owners entered into an agreement which makes available supplemental
compensation for property owners who lose agricultural property to provide right-of-way for the
Highway 11/South Janesville Bypass; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville is required to fund this supplemental compensation in the amount
of $660,941; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has only partially funded the supplemental compensation in the
amount of $620,941; and
WHEREAS, a shortfall in the amount of $40,000 has been identified; and
WHEREAS, funding for the supplemental compensation was not included in the 2000 General Fund
Budget; and
WHEREAS, it is within the authority of the Common Council to make such transfers from the
Contingency Account to other general fund operating accounts as the City Manager and City Council
may, from time to time, determine necessary and/or desirable to effectuate the intent of said
contingency account; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City to provide funding for
such compensation; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of Janesville hereby
authorizes and directs that a transfer in funds in the amount of $40,000 be made from the City's
General Fund-Contingency Account to the General Fund-Highway 11 Bypass Account for property
owners who lose agricultural property to provide right-of-way for the Highway 11/South Janesville
Bypass.
