A Proposed Resolution Authorizing the Administration to Proceed with the Development of a
Proposal to Study a Storm Water Utility and Prepare All Supporting Materials for
Consideration by the Common Council
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville is responsible for the stormwater management in the City;
and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Janesville Common Council to consider a stormwater utility
and fee system to fund stormwater related activities as an alternative to funding through the general
property tax; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interests of the public to fund stormwater related activities with a user
fee system that allocates the costs of stormwater management to all property owners in the City and
that further seeks to base the stormwater fee on the extent that each parcel of real property contributes
to the need for stormwater management.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville
that the Administration is authorized to proceed with the development of a proposal to study a storm
water utility and prepare all supporting materials for consideration by the Common Council.
