,,1 Resolution authorizing a budget adjustment to provide funds for engineering and remediation
activities associated with the landfill leachate and gas collection systems.
WHEREAS, investigation has revealed deterioration of portions of the landfill leachate collection
system; and,
WHEREAS, portions of the existing landfill gas collection system are ineffective in controlling landfill
gas; and,
WHEREAS, both of these conditions present potential threats to the safety of residents and the
environment; and,
WHEREAS, the 2000 Solid Waste Disposal Budget does not contain funds to pay for remediation and
associated engineering costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Common Council of the City of Janesville finds that it
is in the best interest of the City to provide for and authorize a budget adjustment to fund costs
associated with remediation of the landfill leachate and gas collection systems.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that it hereby
authorizes an adjustment in the 2000 Solid Waste Disposal budget to be mad in the amount of two
hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) using unreserved balance in the Sanitation Fund to pay for such
additional activities.
