2000-94RESOLUTION NO. 2000-94 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SELL SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE 1900 BLOCK OF S. OSBORNE AVENUE TO ROCK COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, INC. WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Community Development Authority is to increase home ownership among low and moderate income families; and WltEREAS, Rock County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. is in need of vacant lots on which it may construct single-family homes for sale to low and moderate income families; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville owns the following described real property: River Heights Addition, Lots 16, 17, and 18 including the South ½ of the Vacated Alley Lying North and Adjacent to Block 13, City of Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin WHEREAS, the Plan Commission reviewed the potential sale of this property at its meeting on November 6, 2000 and has recommended that the property be declared surplus, and that the City Council Authorize the City Manager to proceed with the sale of this property, but did not review the financial aspects of this transaction; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Authority reviewed the sale of this property at its meeting on October 18, 2000 and recommended that the City Council sell this property to Rock County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. for the sum of $1.00; and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville does hereby find that this property is surplus and is no longer needed for City purposes, and that the proposed sale is to the benefit of and in the best interest of the citizens and the City of Janesville, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that it hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager and the City Clerk to negotiate, enter into and execute, on behalf of the City of Janesville, the sale of such property to Rock County Habitat for Humanity, Inc., for the sum of $1.00 and execute such documents, papers, forms as may from time-to-time be necessary and/or desirable to effectuate such transactions and the intent of this resolution as the City Manager may decide; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council that the City Manager is hereby authorized to take whatever other minor actions or to make whatever other minor changes that may be necessary to effectuate this land transaction.
