A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY
FOR STATE AND FEDERAL GRANTS TO ACQUIRE PARKLAND
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Ice Age Trail
Foundation is accepting applications from government agencies interested in participating in a grant
program to acquire public parkland; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has identified two parcels of land which are available for
acquisition located at 601 N. Main Street and 101 Rockport Road; and
WHEREAS, the City's 50% matching funds will be provided from rental income, note issue,
parkland acquisition fund and donations; and
WHEREAS, applying for and receiving such grants upon the terms and conditions set forth in
the grant application(s) and documents are in the best interest of the City and of benefit to the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
they hereby authorize the City Manager and/or his designees to submit all necessary applications to
the Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Ice Age Trail Foundation for such program
participation, grants and aids which may, from to time to time, be available to the City, and to sign all
necessary documents and take all such other action on behalf of the City as the City Manager deems
necessary or desirable to effectuate the intent of this resolution and such grant programs; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Janesville shall comply with all of the State and
Federal rules for this program, may perform force account work, will maintain the completed projects
in an attractive, inviting and safe manner, will keep the facilities open to the general public during
reasonable hours consistent with the type of facility, and will attain from the Wisconsin Department of
Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Ice Age Trail Foundation approval in writing before any
changes are made to the use of the proposed sites.
