A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACQUIRE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has completed a drainage plan which provides for the
construction of a detention basin in a publicly owned greenbelt south of Mercy South Clinic on Kellogg
Avenue, and
WHEREAS, Community Action Program owns 7.88 acres immediately adjacent to the
greenbelt, which would be of significant value to the construction of the detention basin, and
WHEREAS, the City Administration has negotiated an offer to purchase in the amount of
$23,600, and
WHEREAS, funding for this acquisition will be provided as part of the detention basin
construction project included in the 2000 Note Issue, and
WHEREAS, on March 6, 2000, the Janesville Plan Commission reviewed this acquisition and
voted unanimously to recommend the City acquire the property based on its consistency with City
plans, although not evaluating financial aspects of the acquisition, and
WHEREAS, acquiring this property is in the best interest of the City and of benefit to the
community,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of Janesville
that they hereby authorize the City Manager and/or his designees to purchase said property from
Community Action Program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and his designees may, from time to
time, negotiate, draft, amend, execute and enter into such changes and other documents to the grant,
property acquisition documents, contracts and agreements and take such other actions as the City
Manager may deem necessary or desirable to effectuate the intent of this resolution and such grant
program.
