RESOLUTION NO. 2000-27
A Resolution to extend the Connecting Highway limits of United States Highway (USH) 14
easterly from Deerfield Drive to North Wright Road.
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation may, under s. 86.32, designate United
States Highway System as Connecting Highways, for which the local municipality has
maintenance and traffic control responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville desires to assume maintenance and traffic control on an
additional portion of USH 14 (HEmes Road) easterly from the existing construction limits at
Deerfield Drive, to a point 1,000 feet east of the intersection with North Wright Road; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation has access control along USH 14 through this
area; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, with the financial assistance of the
City of Janesville, has reconstructed USH 14 easterly from Pontiac Drive through the
intersection with North Wright Road, including new street lights.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Janesville
requests the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to extend the Connecting Highway
designation on USH 14 easterly from Deerfield Drive to a point 1,000 feet east of the
intersection with North Wright Road.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will retain
control over access to USH 14.
