2014-1086 RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -1086
Whereas, Rick A. Larson is retiring from City of Janesville employment
after having diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the
community for twenty -nine years; retiring as a Lieutenant with the City of
Janesville Police Department; and
Whereas, Rick A. Larson prior to serving the City of Janesville, served our
country honorably in the United States Air Force.
Whereas, during Rick A. Larson's employment with the City of Janesville,
he provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious
devotion to the duties of his position, which he performed with skill and ability,
sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and
Whereas, Rick A. Larson began his employment with the Janesville Police
Department as a Patrolman and during his career was promoted to the rank of
Sergeant and then Lieutenant.
Whereas, Rick A. Larson was involved in a variety of assignments during
his career including Bicycle Officer, DARE Officer, Field Training Officer, General
Order Committee Member, Safety Committee Member, Uniform /Equipment
Manager, Background Investigations Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator,
Records Management Co- Administrator, and Accreditation Manager.
Whereas, Rick A. Larson received a Letter of Commendation, he was
credited with the discovery of a burglary in progress to a school and the
successful apprehension of the suspect.
Whereas, Rick A. Larson received a Letter of Commendation, he was
credited with saving the life of two residents having been exposed to dangerous
levels of carbon monoxide.
Whereas, Rick A. Larson received the Janesville Police Department's
Award of Excellence in 2008.
Whereas, Rick A. Larson delayed his retirement to assist the Janesville
Police Department during the accreditation process; and
Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of
Janesville be properly recognized;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the people of the City of Janesville,
through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Rick A. Larson
for his twenty -nine years of loyal public service.
