2014-1124 FILE RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -1124
A resolution recognizing July 15th, 2014 as the 90th anniversary of Riverside Golf Course
WHEREAS, Riverside Golf Course is a city- owned, 18 -hole, 72 par championship layout golf
course built by architect Robert Bruce Harris and opened for play on July 15th, 1924; and
WHEREAS, Riverside Golf Course is situated along the Rock River and features tree -lined
fairways, rolling hills, and large, undulating bent grass greens; and
WHEREAS, Riverside Golf Course has grown in prominence as host of the Ray Fischer
Tournament, one of the most prestigious amateur events in the Midwest; and
WHEREAS, Riverside Golf Course has been showcased as one of the top 50 best values in
public golf in the country; and
WHEREAS, Riverside Golf Course is ranked as one of southern Wisconsin's best public golf
courses; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Janesville
that July 15th, 2014 marks the 90th anniversary of Riverside Golf Course. Furthermore,
KemperSports should be commended for their excellent management, operation, and
maintenance of Riverside Golf Course as a top -notch recreational facility for the Janesville
community.
