RESOLUTION NO. 2003-377
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to acquire, by purchase, property at the southeast corner
of Kellogg Avenue and South River Road (University of Wisconsin-Rock County Campus property).
WHEREAS, the City has negotiated with the Rock County Board of Supervisors, the purchase of
0.2 acres of property at the southeast corner of Kellogg Avenue and South River Road for a purchase
price of $2,000 ($10,000/acre).
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City of Janesville to acquire this piece of land for the realignment
of South River Road at Kellogg Avenue as part of South River Road roadway improvements
previously approved by the Janesville City Council on April 14, 2003; and
WHEREAS, this acquisition, plan and use(s) were properly reviewed and approved by the Janesville
Plan Commission on the 7th day of April, 2003, but without review, comment or recommendation
concerning the financial aspects of this transaction; and
WHEREAS, acquiring this property for such public transportation and related purposes is
authorized by Section 62.22 and other related provisions of the Wisconsin Statutes, and is in the best
interest of the City and of benefit to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
they hereby authorize the City Manager and/or his designees to purchase and acquire said property
from Rock County, in accord with the plan, offer to purchase, and public purposes; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and his designee(s) may, from time to time,
negotiate, draft, amend, execute and enter into such contracts, documents, and agreements desirable
to effectuate the intent of this Resolution.
