2003-349Resolution 2003 - 349 A Resolution Naming the Education Building at Rotary Gardens the Parker Education Center and naming the former Visitor Center at Rotary Gardens as the Rath Center. WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has leased approximately 20 acres of Blackhawk Park to Rotary Gardens, Inc. for the creation of a botanical garden for the enjoyment of Janesville's citizens; and WHEREAS, Rotary Gardens, Inc. has raised $2,550,000 in contributions from Janesville's citizens, corporations, and foundations to support the construction of an education center and to renovate the former visitor center; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Foundation has been a long term supporter throughout the creation of Rotary Gardens and made a substantial contribution in support of the construction of the education center; and WHEREAS, the Rath Foundation has been a long term supporter throughout the creation of Rotary Gardens and made a substantial contribution in support of the renovation of an old barn into the visitor center which has been converted into offices for Rotary Gardens, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Janesville wish to publicly thank both the Janesville Foundation and the Rath Foundation for their support of worthy community projects and their commitment to the creation of Rotary Gardens; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that: 1) The newly constructed education building at Rotary Gardens be named the "Parker Education Center; and 2) The newly renovated visitor center at Rotary Gardens be named the "Rath Center."
