AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY AND INCORPORATING THE SAME
WITHIN THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE, PURSUANT TO
THE PROVISIONS OF WISCONSIN STATUTES, SECTION 66.0223.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE, ROCK
COUNTY, WISCONSIN, AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Section 66.0223, Wis. Stats., authorizes the Common Council to annex territory
owned by a city and located near the city's boundaries by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville is the property owner of the territory, as legally described in
Attachment A, and desires to annex and incorporate it within the corporate boundaries of the
City; and
WHEREAS, the territory to be annexed is adjacent to the corporate limits of the City and it is
feasible to extend water, sewer and other municipal services from the city to the territory.
WHEREAS, the territory to be annexed is located in the Town of Rock, Rock County,
Wisconsin, and its current use is consistent with town and county zoning regulation.
NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Janesville, Rock
County, as follows:
1. Annexation of Territory
There is hereby annexed to the City of Janesville, County of Rock, State of Wisconsin,
and incorporated within the corporate boundaries thereof, the following territory currently
owned by the City of Janesville and legally described in Attachment A. The population
of this territory is determined to be zero.
2. New Corporate Limits
The corporate limits of the City of Janesville are hereby extended and increased so as to
include and embrace within the corporate limits of the City of Janesville, the territory
described in Section 1 hereof, and such territory is hereby declared to be a part of the
City of Janesville.
3. Filing of Annexed Territory
A. The map attached to this ordinance as Page 2 of Attachment A is an accurate
map of the territory annexed, and such map is adopted as the official map of the
territory annexed, and the City Clerk of the City of Janesville, is hereby
authorized and directed to certify that the map is an accurate map of the territory
annexed under the provision of this ordinance.
B. The City Clerk of the City of Janesville is authorized and directed to file seven (7)
certified copies of this Ordinance with copies of the official map with the
Secretary of State.
C. The City Clerk of the City of Janesville is authorized and directed to mail or
deliver within ten (10) days of filing with the Secretary of State, a certified copy of
the ordinance and official map to the Rock County Clerk.
4. Voting Ward
All the territory attached by this ordinance is hereby made part of Ward 30 of the City of
Janesville.

5. School District
This annexation is within the Janesville School District.
6. Effective Date
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Common Council, the
public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good order, public benefit, and police power so
requiring. After this annexation becomes effective, the above described property shall
be exempt from and not subject to further taxation and assessments in the Town of Rock
and thence forth shall be subject to taxation and assessment as part of the City of
Janesville for any and all purpose provided by law.

Commencing at a concrete monument at the West 1/4 corner of said Section; thence
S.89 °04'46 "E. along the East -West centerline of said Section, 1877.37 feet to the SW corner of
a tract of land described in Document No. 1401543; thence N.0 °43'12 "W. along the West line of
said tract of land, 246.24 feet to an iron pin at the place of beginning for the land to be herein
described; thence N.89 °04'46 "W. 493.03 feet to an iron pin; thence N.62 °49'18 "W. 295.37 feet
