2014-1078 City of Janesville RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -1078 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION FOR 2014 FOR OPERATION OF THE RIVERSIDE WADING POOL. WHEREAS, the City's 2014 budget for the purpose of the Recreation Division was reduced by $28,994 for the purpose of closing the Riverside Wading Pool; and WHEREAS, the City's 2014 budget for the purpose of the Recreation Division was increased by $10,270 for the purpose of adding a splash pad operating budget; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to delay moving forward on necessary steps seeking approval for funds for the construction and installation of a splashpad at Riverside Park, due to sight issues including, flood plain and parking concerns that staff needs to work through; and WHEREAS, it is beneficial to the residents of Janesville to have an aquatics facility in Riverside Park operational for the 2014 aquatics season; and WHEREAS, the amount of additional funding to operate the Riverside Wading Pool for 2014 is $17,502; and WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City to provide supplemental funding and authorize a budget adjustment to fund the operation of the Riverside Wading Pool for calendar year 2014; and WHEREAS, Council Policy Statement #58 requires the Council's approval to amend the current year's budget to provide funding when the adopted program appropriation does not contain sufficient funds; and WHEREAS, it is within the authority of the Common Council, pursuant to Section 65.90(5)(a), Wisconsin Statutes to authorize and direct such supplemental appropriations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that all of the above recitals are incorporated herein by reference as if fully set forth verbatim; that pursuant to Section 65.90 (5)(a) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the Common Council of the City of Janesville hereby authorize and direct that a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $17,502 be and hereby is made from the General Fund's Undesignated Fund Balance and placed into the amended 2014 Recreation Division budget accounts. 1 ADOPTED: February 24, 2014 Motion by: Marklein APPROVE / Second by: Severson Councilmember Aye Nay Pass Absent Farrell X Mark A. reitag, City Manager Fitzgerald X _ / Kealy X ATTE Liebert X na / i ►. / Marklein X id T.
