RESOLUTION NO. 2003-338
A Resolution authorizing a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for improvements to
U.S. Highway 51 in, and adjacent to, the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville recognizes the need to improve U.S. Highway 51 between
Avalon Road and Nicolet Street and also between Court Street and Parker Drive to provide for increasing vehicular
traffic, to eliminate deteriorating conditions and high maintenance costs, and to improve traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has scheduled the rehabilitation of said Highway 51 in 2005
and 2006 at an estimated total cost of $3,056,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville's share of project costs are limited to the cost of utility relocations and manhole
adjustments, and to 25% of the design, now estimated to total $96,500; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that this public project and funding are in the best interest of the City and benefit
to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that the City Manager be
authorized to execute a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and take any other action as
may be necessary to implement and complete the rehabilitation of said Highway 51; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and his designee(s), on behalf of the City of Janesville, is/are
hereby authorized and empowered to negotiate, draft, modify, review, execute, and enter into additional agreements,
payments, and record, file and/or make minor modifications and/or amendments to any and all documents, papers, forms
and agreements, and to take whatever other actions as the City Manager may determine, from time to time and at any
time, necessary and/or desirable to effectuate the intent of this Resolution and/or project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council intends to fund the City's share of this project.
