2002-312RESOLUTION NO. 2002-312
A resolution authorizing a project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation for the construction of the Rock River Parkway and Loch Lomond
bicycle/pedestrian trails in the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville recognizes the need and
benefits of the construction of bicycle/pedestrian trails to interconnect all sectors of the
community with major destination points; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has programmed the Rock River Parkway and Loch
Lomond bicycle/pedestrian trail improvements in 2004 and 2005 at an estimated total
construction cost of $1,041,000; and
WHEREAS, Federal/State funds have been made available, and the City of Janesville's
share of the project cost are limited to 20% of the cost of the project design and
construction, now estimated to be $208,200; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that this public project and funding are in the
best interest of the City and benefit to the community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville, that the City Manager be authorized to execute the project agreement with the
Wisconsin Department of Transportation and take any other action as may be necessary
to implement and complete the construction of said bicycle/pedestrian trail; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council intends to fund the City's
share of this project.
