2002-308RESOLUTION # 2002-308 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A STATE GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF CANADA GEESE ABATEMENT AND CONTROL WHEREAS, the City of Janesville desires to control urban wildlife populations of Canada geese to abate wildlife damage and population control, and WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin is providing 50% matching grants for this purpose, and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville shall comply with all financial recordkeeping and disclosure requirements and other requirements of State Statute 29.887 and Natural Resources code 50.23 pertaining to Urban Wildlife Damage Abatement and Control, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to apply for and accept such grant funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of Janesville hereby authorizes the City Manager or his designated representative to submit a State grant application to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the Urban Wildlife Damage Abatement and Control program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of Janesville does hereby authorize future grant applications for the same program if matching grants are allocated in future City budgets. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Janesville is hereby authorized to expend the funds appropriated and the funds to be received from the State of Wisconsin for the Urban Wildlife Damage Abatement and Control program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Janesville shall maintain appropriate records to document all expenditures made during and for the Urban Wildlife Damage Abatement and Control program identified above and shall submit to the DNR a final report summarizing expenditures and describing objectives, activities, achievements and problems in accomplishing the project identified above. The City of Janesville hereby grants DNR employees access to inspect all planned operations proposed in this program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this State grant for implementing control projects identified in the Urban Wildlife Damage Abatement and Control program, such control work shall be completed within two years of the grant contract being signed.
