2002-135ORIDNANCE NO. 2002-135 An ordinance annexing territory in Sections 16 and 21, T.3N., R.13E. of the 4th P.M., Town of Harmony, Rock County, Wisconsin. WHEREAS, a petition signed by all the owners of all the land within such territory proposed to be annexed has been filed with the City Clerk; and WHEREAS, there are no electors residing in the territory; and WHEREAS, the necessary notices have been duly prepared, provided and served as required by law to all persons affected; and WHEREAS, this ordinance does not contain temporary zoning; and WHEREAS, the Department of Administration has not found the proposed annexation to be against the public interest; and WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that this annexation is in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The territory described as follows is hereby annexed to the City of Janesville. Part of the SW. 1/4 of the SE.l/4 of Section 16 and part of the West 1/2 of the NE.l/4 of Section 21, T.3N., R. 13E. of the 4th P.M., Harmony Township, Rock County, Wisconsin, described as follows: Commencing at the South 1/4 comer of Section 16; thence S.88°31'05"E. along the South line of the SW. 1/4 of the SE.l/4 of said Section 16, a distance of 1323.28 feet to the SE. comer of said SW.1/4 of said SE.l/4 of said Section 16, also being at the place of beginning for the land to be herein described; thence S. 1 °01'50"E. along the East line of the West 1/2 of the NE. 1/4 of said Section 21, a distance of 1713.18 feet to the Northerly R.O.W. (right-of-way) line ofU. S.H. 14; thence N.69°02'25"W. along the said Northerly R.O.W. line, 600.13 feet to the most SE. comer of an existing tract; thence N.20°57'35"E. along the Easterly line of said tract, 260.0 feet to the most NE. comer of said tract; thence N.69°02'25"W. along the Northerly line of said tract, 258.76 feet to the existing city limit line; thence N.20°57'35"E. along said city limit line, 340.35 feet; thence N. 1°03'25"W. continuing along said city limit line, 72.86 feet; thence N.88°56'35"E. continuing along said city limit line, 280.0 feet; thence N. 1 °03'25"W. continuing along said city limit line, 130.0 feet; thence S.88°56'35"W. continuing along said city limit line, 30.0 feet; thence N. 1°03'25"W. continuing along said city limit line, 1101.08 feet; thence N. 1°09'15"W. continuing along said city limit line, 70.08 feet; thence N. 1°03'25"W. continuing along said city limit line, 129.79 feet; thence N.88°29'35"W. continuing along said city limit line, 310.19 feet; thence N. 1 °03'25"W. continuing along said city limit line, 664.75 feet to the North line of said SW. 1/4 of said SE. 1/4 of said Section 16; thence S.88°3 l'40"E, along said North line, 637.17 feet to the NE. comer of said SW. 1/4 of said SE.l/4 of Section 16; thence S.0°51'30"E. along the East line of said SW. 1/4 of said SE.l/4 of said Section 16, a distance of 1319.68 feet to the place of beginning. Containing 31.24 acres. ORDINANCE NO. 2002-135 PAGE 2 SECTION II. After this annexation becomes effective, the above described property shall be exempt from and not subject to further taxation and assessments in the Town of Harmony and thence forth shall be subject to taxation and assessment as part of the City of Janesville for any and all purpose provided by law. SECTION III. All the territory annexed by this ordinance is hereby made part of Ward 5 of the City of Janesville. SECTION IV. There are no residents in the area proposed for annexation. SECTION V. The annexation area is within the Milton School District. SECTION VI. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Common Council, the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good order, public benefit, and police power so requiring.
