A resolution authorizing the City's funding application for a Transportation Economic
Assistance (TEA) grant from the WI Dept. of Transportation to provide transportation
infrastructure for GOEX Inc.
Whereas: the Common Council of the City of Janesville recognizes the economic development
benefits of assisting companies like GOEX Inc. in their expansion projects which will result in
new jobs and increased property tax base.
Whereas: the current WisDOT submittal is for a planned development to be located at 802 US
Highway 14, E in TIF 21 where a 161,875 sq. ft. manufacturing facility will be constructed.
Whereas: the proposed development is consistent with the TIF 21 plan for industrial
development at that location.
Whereas: The availability of state funds for transportation infrastructure design and
construction is available to the City on a 50/50 cost sharing basis.
Whereas: the total estimated construction of eligible TEA costs is $1,120,044.00 comprising a
50% TEA grant of up to $655,000.00 and the remaining 50% of $560,022.00 coming from TIF 21
funds.
Whereas: the Common Council find that this project and funding are in the best interest of the
City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE
THAT THE City Manager be authorized to submit a grant application tot eh Wisconsin
Department of Transportation and take any other action as may be necessary to facilitate the
grant application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council hereby authorize the City Administration
to take whatever reasonable necessary and /or desirable actions it determines appropriate to
effectuate the intent of this referendum authorizing resolution.
