RESOLUTION ELIMINATING THE CODE ADMINISTRATION AND HOUSING AND
NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES DEPARTMENTS AND CREATING A HOUSING,
BUILDING, AND NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City Manager proposes that the current departments of Code Administration and
Housing and Neighborhood Services be eliminated; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager proposes that a new department of Housing, Building, and
Neighborhood Services be created; and
WHEREAS, this reorganization will result in several advantages to the organization including
the elimination of duplication, the reduction in Administrative overhead, staffing flexibility, the
ability to implement new technology, and communication and productivity improvements; and
WHEREAS, long-term benefits will accrue to the citizens of Janesville including improved
customer service, reduction of administrative costs, and productivity improvements; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 64.10 of the Wisconsin State Statutes requires approval by the City Council
to create general departments of the City Administration;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
the departments of Code Administration and Housing and Neighborhood Services are hereby
eliminated; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a new department of Housing, Building, and Neighborhood
Services be created.
