A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
A FEDERAL GRANT TO CONSTRUCT A NEW FOOTBRIDGE ON
THE WISCONSIN ICE AGE TRAIL
WHEREAS, the National Park Service is accepting applications for a Federally funded cost-
sharing program from agencies interested in upgrading sections of the Ice Age Trail, and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has identified a footbridge over Spring Brook that needs to
be replaced, and
WHEREAS, the United Autoworkers Local #95 has agreed to donate the labor to replace the
bridge which will serve as the City's 50% match for the purposes of this grant, and
WHEREAS, applying for and receiving such funds on the terms and conditions set forth in the
funding applications and documents are in the best interest of the City and the benefit to the
Community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
they hereby authorize the City Manager, and/or his designee, to submit all necessary applications to
the National Park Service for such program participation, grants and aids that may, from time to time,
be available to the City, and to sign all necessary documents and to take all such other action on
behalf of the City as the City Manager deems necessary or desirable to effectuate the intent of this
resolution and such funding programs.
