A resolution authorizing a land conveyance agreement and the acceptance of
greenbelt dedication within the City of Janesville on property currently owned by
James Campbell and located along Midvale Drive.
WHEREAS, James Campbell owns the following described property:
PART OF THE NE 1/4 OF THE NE 1/4 OF SECTION 20, T.3N., R.13E. OF THE 4
P.M., CITY OF JANESVILLE, ROCK COUNTY, WISCONSIN.
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: Commencing at the NE Corner of said Section 20; thence
S.8 °44'13 "W. 414.83 feet to the intersection of the West Line of N. Wright Road and the
relocated South Line of U.S. H. "14 "; thence N.59 °31'30 "W. along said South Line,
121.67 feet; thence N.68 °00'56 "W. continuing along said South Line, 57.16 feet to the
place of beginning for the land to be herein described; thence S.31 °36'57 "W. 123.83
feet; thence S.32 °59'58 "W. 235.00 feet; thence S.40 °36'55 "W. 176.50 feet; thence
S.8 °30'47 "W. 79.00 feet; thence S.88 °07'07 "W. 25.35 feet to the North Line of Midvale

WHEREAS, James Campbell wishes to dedicate as greenbelt this property located
within a mapped floodplain area to the City of Janesville; and
WHEREAS, the proposed dedication will replace an existing 100 -foot wide greenbelt
easement previously conveyed to the City over an existing drainageway that extends
between Midvale Drive and U.S. Highway 14; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville maintains an extensive system of greenbelts that
protect natural drainage corridors and facilitate stormwater management, conveyance
and treatment; and
WHEREAS, the conveyance agreement will ensure that land with this environmentally
sensitive portion of the floodplain will remain in public ownership and be protected; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission, at its January 14, 2013 meeting, reviewed the
proposed dedication and found it to be consistent with City plans; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville do hereby find that the
acceptance of said dedication and conveyance agreement is to the benefit of the
citizens and community of Janesville,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville that they hereby authorize and direct the City Administration to proceed with
the acceptance of this greenbelt dedication.
