2002-130ORDINANCE NO. 2002 - 130 An ordinance amending Janesville's worthless check ordinance to include instruments in face amounts up to $2,500, with forfeiture penalties and costs of prosecution for violations, and remedies for default in payment thereof as set forth in revised Section 9. 68. 030. THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Section 9.68.020 A. of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: "9.68.020 Issuance of Worthless Checks Prohibited. A. Whoever issues any check or other order for the payment of money in an amount equal to or greater than thirty dollars ($30.00) but equal to or less than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) which, at the time of issuance, he or she intends shall not be paid is guilty ora violation of this chapter." SECTION II. Section 9.68.030 C. of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: "9.68.030 Violation - Penalty. C. Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall forfeit not less than one hundred dollars but not more than ten thousand dollars, together with the costs of prosecution, if the worthless check is for an amount equal to or greater than five hundred dollars. SECTION III. Section 9.68.030 D. of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: "9.68.030 Violation - Penalty. D. Any person who defaults upon payment of a forfeiture imposed under this chapter shall be either imprisoned in the Rock County jail until the forfeiture and costs are paid but not to exceed one hundred twenty days, or otherwise dealt with in the manner provided by law for unpaid forfeitures."
