A Resolution Authorizing an Agreement with the Dane County Humane Society to Provide Intake
and Care of Owned and Impounded Animals
Whereas, the City of Janesville is responsible for the enforcement of Animal Care Laws, which include
Title 6 of the Janesville Ordinances ( "Animals "), Chapter 173 of the Wisconsin Statutes ( "Animals;
Humane Officers "); Chapter 174 of the Wisconsin Statutes ( "Dogs "); Chapter 951 of the Wisconsin
Statutes ( "Crimes Against Animals "); and the rabies control program established under Wisconsin Statute
section 95.21; and
Whereas, the City of Janesville desires to contract with a service provider to provide some of these
specialized services; and
Whereas, the City of Janesville and Dane County Humane Society mutually desire to enter into this
Agreement for animal control, shelter, and care services as set forth in a certain Agreement, a true and
correct photocopy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth verbatim; and
Whereas, the Common Council finds that entering this agreement with the Dane County Humane Society
for animal control, shelter, and care services is in the best interest and benefit of the community; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE
that they hereby authorize and direct the City Manager, City Clerk, and his/her designee to negotiate, enter
into, and execute on behalf of the City of Janesville the attached Agreement; and to negotiate, draft, execute,
record, and file such documents, papers and forms as may from time to time, be necessary and/or desirable to
effectuate such agreement and the intent of this resolution as the City Manager may decide; and
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL that the City Manager and his designees are
hereby authorized to take at any time and from time to time whatever other actions and make whatever minor
changes to this Agreement that the City Manager may find necessary and /or desirable to effectuate the intent of
this resolution.
