An organizational meeting of the Janesville City Council, held at the Municipal Building on April 16, 2002
at 7:35 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by City Clerk-Treasurer Jean Ann Wulf.
Present: Councilmembers Brien, Damron (arrived 7:36 a.m.), DeGarmo, Murphy, O'Leary (arrived 7:36
a.m.), Steeber, and Williams.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT:
The City Clerk-Treasurer called for nominations from the floor for City Council President. Councilmember
Brien moved to nominate Councilmember DeGarmo as Council President, seconded by Councilmember
Steeber. The City Clerk-Treasurer called for any other nominations for Council President three times and
received no further nominations. Nominations were closed and Councilmember DeGarmo was elected
President unanimously.
Councilmember Murphy moved to elect Councilmember Williams as Council Vice-President, seconded
by Councilmember Steeber. There were no other nominations. Nominations were closed and
Councilmember Williams was elected Council Vice-President unanimously.
Council President DeGarmo established the new seating arrangement for the Council starting at the
President's far left: Councilmembers Steeber, Murphy, Damron and Williams; starting from the
President's far right Councilmembers O'Leary and Brien.
There being no further business, the Council adjourned at 7:39 a.m.
These minutes are not official until approved by the City Council.
