2012-933 A resolution recognizing the New Life Assembly of God Church for their Freedom Fest event in
celebration of the Fourth of July. (2012 -933).
WHEREAS, each year the United States of America celebrates Independence Day to commemorate the adoption of
the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 and declaration of our nation's independence from the Kingdom of
Great Britain; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville community is fortunate to have two major community events planned each year to
celebrate Independence Day;
WHEREAS, eleven years ago the New Life Assembly of God Church began organizing and sponsoring the Freedom
Fest event on their church property for the community; and
WHEREAS, Freedom Fest includes many free events for area families, including music, carnival rides, a petting
zoo, a health clinic and other entertainment; and
WHEREAS, in the early evening the church conducts a ceremony to recognize American citizens that are serving
our country in the military, which is then followed by fireworks for the community; and
WHEREAS, the estimated attendance at this free community event is approximately 30,000; and
WHEREAS, organizing and sponsoring an event of this magnitude takes tireless energy and significant foresight;
and
WHEREAS, the New Life Assembly of God Church have a long history of working cooperatively with the City of
Janesville to ensure public safety is a priority when organizing logistics for parking and fireworks;
WHEREAS, Freedom Fest is a wonderful community event that promotes community unity and patriotism.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of Janesville, on the 24 day
of September 2012 that all Janesville residents recognize the contributions the New Life Assembly of God Church
has made to our community through their organization and sponsorship of the Freedom Fest community event.
