2001-199 CITY OF JANESVILLE RESOLUTION NO. 2001-199 A Resolution of the City Council honoring the loss of life of Firefighters, Police Officers, Paramedics and Civilians, condemning all acts of terrorism and supporting the efforts of the United States Government to protect our liberty and freedoms. WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, the United States experienced horrendous acts of terrorism in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, and WHEREAS, hundreds of Firefighters, Police Officers and Paramedics lost their lives attempting to aid and rescue more than 5,000 civilian casualties, and WHEREAS, these acts were carried out by terrorists with the intent of undermining our civilization. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Janesville wishes to recognize and honor our public servants dedicated to the protection of life and property and their heroic acts and, at the same time, condemn the despicable and deplorable acts of terrorism against our country. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Janesville declares its support for the actions of the United States Government and the men and women of the military intended to provide security to this country and the protection of our liberty and freedoms. ~d)OPTED: October 22, 2001 APPROVED: e~ E.
