2001-144RESOLUTION NO. 2001-144 EXHIBIT III A Resolution Authorizing a 2000 Budget Amendment to Provide Funds for the Division of Public Works WHEREAS, on August 8, 2000, the City of Janesville experienced a severe wind storm, which required Street Cleaning operations a significant level of effort to clear all automobile and pedestrian travel ways of debris; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville experienced atypical weather conditions during the month of December 2000, which required Snow Removal Operations an increase in the level of snowplowing and snow removal efforts; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Transit System experienced an unexpected decrease in State of Wisconsin 2000 Operating Subsidy and an unanticipated increase in diesel fuel prices, which resulted in the Transit System incurring an Operating deficit; and WHEREAS, the Street Cleaning, Snow Removal, and Transit Operating Subsidy budgets are components of the 2000 Public Works appropriation; and WHEREAS, the Public Works 2000 appropriation has been overexpended; and WHEREAS, Sections 62.11(5), 66.0101, 65.90 and 65.90(5) of the Wisconsin Statutes enable, empower and authorize the governing body of a Wisconsin City to amend and supplement an adopted general fund operating budget, from time to time, in the best interests of the community and its financial well-being; and WHEREAS, the Common Council finds it necessary and in the best interest of the City to provide additional funding to balance the 2000 Public Works budget; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that they authorize a 2000 Budget amendment by the reallocation of $108,272 from the 2000 Police Department Budget and $62,000 from the Contingency Account, to the Street Cleaning ($76,772), Snow Removal ($62,814), and Transit Operating Subsidy ($30,686) 2000 budget accounts.
