RESOLUTION NO. 2001-112
A Resolution authorizing a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation
for improvements to State Trunk Highway 11 (Janesville Bypass, West) in, and adjacent to, the
City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville recognizes the need to improve State
Trunk Highway 11 from Hayner Road to U.S. Highway 51 (Center Avenue), a distance of 5.1
miles, for increasing vehicular traffic, to eliminate deteriorating conditions and high maintenance
cost, and to improve traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has scheduled the relocation and
construction of said Highway 11 in 2001 and 2002 at an estimated total cost of $15,996,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville's share of project costs are limited to the cost of manhole
adjustments and to 20% of the design and construction of a bike path and underpass, now
estimated to total $60,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
the City Manager be authorized to execute a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department
of Transportation and take any other action as may be necessary to implement and complete the
relocation and construction of said Highway 11 (Janesville Bypass, West); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council intends to fund the City's share of this
improvement project.
