An ordinance increasing the current $3,250 per acre storm sewer assessment rate to
$5,200 per acre.
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION L Section 17.44.010 B. of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of
Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows:
B. At the time any plat, certified survey or other subdivision is presented for approval,
or at the time a building permit is requested for any parcel that has not paid storm sewer
assessment, the developer shall deposit with the City Clerk a sum of money to be used to pay for
the design and construction of storm sewers and storm drainage improvements. No such money
shall be spent for any purpose except to pay for the design and construction of storm sewers and
storm drainage improvements. The City shall charge Five Thousand Two Hundred Dollars
($5,200) per acre for the design and construction of storm sewers and storm drainage
improvements. The total cost shall be computed by multiplying the cost per acre by the total
number of acres included in the plat, certified survey or other subdivision.
Beginning in 2001, the assessment rate will be evaluated annually and a new rate
established each year to assure recovery of not less than 100% of the cost of storm sewer
construction. The City Council shall be advised of the new rate.
