Minutes 06-15-2008 PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN SPECIAL MEETING APPROVED: June 23, 2008 June 15, 2008 VOL. 59 NO. 8 Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Janesville held in the Municipal Building on June 15, 2008. The meeting was called to order by Council President Loasching at 2:00 PM. Council President Loasching led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Council President Loasching, Councilmembers Brunner, McDonald, Rashkin, Steeber, Truman and Voskuil. Attendance at the Administration’s Flood Management Operations/Coordination meeting. City Manager Sheiffer and designated staff members updated the Council on the water elevations, evacuations, flooding, public safety, road closures, facility closures, sand bag operations, communications and pending issues. The Council asked various questions and general discussion ensued. Consideration of the Flood Related Emergency Activities. Councilmember Steeber moved to adopt the Proclamation of Emergency, City of Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin, with Concurrent City Manager Executive Orders. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Brunner. Councilmember Brunner offered a friendly amendment to review the status of the proclamation at the June 23, 2008 Council meeting. The amendment was accepted by the maker. The motion, as amended, passed unanimously. Council President requested that citizens stay away from the flood waters because of the various dangers. Councilmember Brunner concurred that numerous dangers exist for citizens and first responders are at risk when the public does not act responsibly.
