A resolution recognizing the week of May 20-26 as "National Public Works Week"
WHEREAS, In 1960, the American Public Works Association instituted "National
Public Works Week" as a public education campaign which calls attention to the
importance of public works in community life; and
WHEREAS, Public works infrastructure, facilities, and services are of vital
importance to the health, safety, and comfort of the citizens of Janesville; and
WHEREAS, Such facilities are maintained and services provided through the
dedicated efforts of public works professionals; and
WHEREAS, It is in the public interest for all citizens and civic leaders of Janesville
to learn about the array of facilities and services provided through the public works
infrastructure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Common Council of the City of
Janesville, on this the 14th day of May 2007, do hereby proclaim the week of May
20 to May 26 as "National Public Works Week", and hereby call upon all citizens
and civic organizations to join the City, in conjunction with the American Public
Works Association, in activities and ceremonies designed to recognize the
contributions which public works employees make every day to our health, safety,
comfort, and quality of life.
