An ordinance amending the O1 Zone District regulations making multiple-family
residential dwellings a conditional use within that zone district, with a penalty and
injunctive relief for a violation thereof as set forth in Section 18.28.010 of the Code of
General Ordinances of the City of Janesvllle.
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: It is hereby declared that enactment of the provisions outlined in the following
sections of this ordinance is essential to protect the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility,
good and order of the City of Janesville.
SECTION II: Section 18.36.030 B.l.b.ii. of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of
Janesville is hereby repealed.
SECTION HI: Section 18.36.030 B. 1.c.~. of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of
Janesville is hereby created to read as follows:

,tr. Multiple-family dwellings def'med as any building containing three or more dwelling
units.
SECTION IV: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Common
Council, the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good, order, public benefit, and police
power so requiring. Upon adoption of this ordinance, all O1 zoned properties containing
multiple-family development as of the adoption date shall be deemed as holding a valid
conditional use permit. Henceforth said properties must comply with all standards for the
conduct of conditional uses and in addition, all new multiple-family residences proposed
within an O! district shall comply with said regulations.
All currently zoned O1 Zone Districts will be grandfathered.
