CITY OF JANESVILLE
RESOLUTION NO. 2006-343
A Resolution amending the 2006 Public Works expenditure appropriation to
provide funding for the purchase of application and storage equipment necessary
to implement an anti-icing program for bridges and certain hills.
WHEREAS, anti-icing programs have been proven elsewhere to be an effective
management tool for the control of snow and ice on roadways;
WHEREAS, an anti-icing program is a proactive approach to the control of snow
and ice on roadways;
WHEREAS, implementation of an anti-icing program for bridges and certain hills
will result in improved winter driving conditions in those locations;
WHEREAS, implementation of an anti-icing program for bridges and certain hills
benefits the City and is in the best interest of the safety of the community as a
whole;
WHEREAS, the 2006 Public Works budget does not contain specific funds for
the purchase of anti-icing application and storage equipment;
WHEREAS, Council Policy Statement #58 requires the Council's approval to
amend the current year's budget to "provide for a new or significantly expanded
program activity or a new capital item (greater than $2,000) for which funding will
not exceed the original program appropriation";
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City to
provide a budget adjustment to fund the purchase of anti-icing application and
storage equipment;
WHEREAS, such budget adjustment is not intended to exceed the overall
available funding provided in the 2006 Adopted Public Works budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville, that it hereby authorizes a budget adjustment to the 2006 Public
Works budget to be made in the amount of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) for
the purchase of anti-icing application and storage equipment.
