RESOLUTION NO. 2006-328
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to reorganize the administrative structure of
the City of Janesville in order to better provide for the long-term operation and planning
of the organization and to take advantage of cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
WHEREAS, the City Manager has been appointed by the Common Council under
Chapter 64.11 (2) of Wisconsin Statute and the City Charter, authorizing him, as the
Chief Executive Officer of the City of Janesville, "to create minor administrative offices
and positions and to discontinue such offices and positions according to his judgment of
the needs of the city;" and
WHEREAS, Chapter 64.10 (1) of Wisconsin Statute states that "The council shall upon
the report and recommendation of the city manager have the power to create general
departments of city administration"; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is responsible for the provision of responsive and cost
efficient services to the citizens of J anesville; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds the reorganization plan submitted by the City
Manager to be in the best interests of the City of J anesville, providing for the effective
operations of all City services and resulting in cost savings.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville that the City Manager is authorized to implement the reorganization plan as set
forth by the City Manager in the report dated August 9, 2006.
