2006-268 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-268 A resolution recognizing Tucker Fredricks for his participation in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. (File Resolution No. 2006-268) WHEREAS, Tucker Fredricks was born in Janesville and graduated from Craig High School in 2002; and WHEREAS, Tucker learned to skate at the Traxler lagoon and the Janesville Ice Skating Center; and WHEREAS, Tucker was a member of the U.S. Junior Olympic speedskating program and earned a gold medal at the Junior World Championship in the 500 meter race in 2003; and WHEREAS, in 2004, Tucker won a bronze medal in the World Cup 100 meter race; and WHEREAS, in 2005, Tucker won a bronze medal in the World Cup 500 meter race; and WHEREAS, on December 27, 2005 Tucker qualified to be a member of the 2006 United States speedskating Olympic team; and WHEREAS, on February 13, 2006, Tucker placed twenty-fifth in the 500 meter long track race at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy; and WHEREAS, Tucker was the youngest male member of the United States long track speed skating Olympic team; and WHEREAS, Tucker was the first Janesville native to participate in the Olympics; NOW, THEREFORE, LET BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of Janesville, that all Janesville residents are called upon to recognize Tucker Fredricks for his exceptional athletic achievements, incomparable level of sportsmanship, and resolute passion for speedskating; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council to acknowledge Tucker Fredricks for his outstanding representation of the City of Janesville in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.
