Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Janesville held
in the Municipal Building, 21 October 1991 at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Council President Schneider.
Present: Council President Schneider, Councilmembers O'Leary,
Noll, Stehura, Collins and Brien. Absent: Councilmember Pierson.
OLD BUSINESS
1. The Council reviewed the general government, insurance, and
other expenditures summary budgets.
Councilmember Brien moved to reduce the conference expense in the
Finance Budget by $2,400, seconded by Councilmember Collins. The
motion was withdrawn by both Councilmembers
The Council, by consensus, decided to have straw votes taken at the
end of the budget review instead of during the budget review.
The Council requested that the following information be provided:
1) Councilmember Brien requested the fiscal impact of
conducting Council meetings on the first and third Monday
of the month, instead of bi-weekly.
2) The Council requested additional information regarding the
membership in the League of Municipalities.
3) Councilmember Stehura requested the finance department's
cross reference sheet from the old sub account numbers to
the new sub account numbers.
2. The Council reviewed the Library Budget and requested the
following information:
1) Councilmember Stehura requested a break down of the new
material costs in the amount of $25,016.
2) Councilmember Stehura requested a graph charting
inflation versus the library expenditures.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Matters not on the agenda. City Manager Sheiffer reviewed
alternative revenue sources with the Council.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:23
p.m.
