A resolution authorizing the City Manager to proceed with the conveyance of a
property located at 1909 South Osborne Avenue to Habitat for Humanity
Waukesha-Jefferson-Rock.
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville in fee simple owns the following described parcel:
RIVER HEIGHTS ADD. LOT 22 BLK.13 JC570411100472
WHEREAS, The City of Janesville acquired the property located 1909 South Osborne
Avenue in October 2018, through the Rock County Tax Foreclosure Program for the
purpose of neighborhood improvement; and
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity Waukesha-Jefferson Rock, a Wisconsin non-stock,
non-profit corporation, has expressed a willingness to construct a new the single-family
residential property at 1909 South Osborne Avenue to be used as an affordable, single -
family home; and
WHEREAS, The construction is consistent with the City of Janesville City of Janesville
Comprehensive Plan, and the strategic priority of Housing for All; and
WHEREAS, It is for the public benefit of the City of Janesville to convey 1902 South
Osborne Avenue to Habitat for Humanity Waukesha-Jefferson-Rock for the construction
of a new, affordable, single-family home; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of
Janesville that it hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager and the City Clerk to
convey this property to the Habitat for Humanity Waukesha-Jefferson-Rock, and to
execute on behalf of the City of Janesville, the conveyance of such property; and to
negotiate and execute such other agreements, documents, papers, and forms as may
from time to time be necessary and/or desirable to effectuate such transaction and the
intent of this resolution as the City Manager may decide; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to take
whatever other actions or to make whatever other minor changes that may be necessary
to effectuate this land transaction.
