Bid Schedule A-2021 Award Memo1 ENGINEERING DIVISION MEMORANDUM March 8, 2021 TO: City Council FROM: Brad Reents, Assistant City Engineer SUBJECT: Consideration and action to award contract for Bid Schedule “A” - 2021: C2021-1 Curb & Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement C2021-2 Water and Sewer System Improvements I C2021-3 New and Replacement Sidewalk Relates to Strategic Plan Strategic Goal - Infrastructure These contracts support the City’s efforts to maintain existing infrastructure and continue to provide municipal services. Executive Summary Bids for C2021-1 Curb & Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement, C2021-2 Water and Sewer System Improvements I and C2021-3 New and Replacement Sidewalk were opened on January 27, 2021. City Recommendation The City recommends awarding contracts C2021-1 Curb & Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement, C2021-2 Water and Sewer System Improvements I and C2021-3 New and Replacement Sidewalk as well as expressing the intent to borrow funds as outlined in the memo. Suggested Motion I move to award contracts C2021-1 Curb & Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement, C2021-2 Water and Sewer System Improvements I and C2021-3 New and Replacement Sidewalk, as outlined in the memo. Background C2021-1 Curb & Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement – For furnishing all the labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the construction and completion of approximately 45,900 LF curb & gutter replacement; 78,400 SF sidewalk, curb ramp and driveway approach replacement; 160 SY full depth concrete pavement patching and grass terrace restoration. There were two (2) qualified plan holders. The contract estimate was $2,492,342.45. Staff received two (2) bids with Yeske Construction Co. providing the lowest bid. The Engineering Division is recommending award of this contract to JB Johnson Bros, LLC of Edgerton, WI for a total bid amount of $96,130.00.
