Bid Schedule E Award Memo1 ENGINEERING MEMORANDUM July 24, 2017 TO: City Council FROM: Mike Payne, City Engineer SUBJECT: Consideration and action to award contract for Bid Schedule “E” - 2017: C2017-21 Pump Station #10 Roof Replacement Relates to Strategic Plan Strategic Goal - Infrastructure These contracts support the City’s efforts to maintain existing infrastructure. Executive Summary Bids for C2017-21 Pump Station #10 Roof Replacement - were opened on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. The low bid was found to be responsive and acceptable. City Recommendation The City’s recommended course of action is to award contract C2017-21 Pump Station #10 Roof Replacement to the low bidder, recognizing adequate funding was included in the 2017 Note. Suggested Motion I move to award contract C2017-21 Pump Station #10 Roof Replacement to the low bidder as described in the memo. Background C2017-21 Pump Station #10 Roof Replacement – Includes doing all the work necessary for the removal of the existing and replace the roofing systems on the pump station building roof and the water reservoir roof. The pump station building roof is approximately a 2,710 square foot asphalt shingled roof on a nail base insulation system. The asphalt shingle roof system shall be removed down to the nail base insulation and replaced with a new asphalt shingle system. The water reservoir roof is 5,930 square foot roof consisting of mechanically fastened EPDM roof system. The new roof system will consist of a vapor barrier, insulation and a fully adhered EPDM membrane roof system with new edge metal. There were four (4) prequalified plan holders. The contract estimate was $120,000. We opened four (4) bids for this project, with Maly Roofing Co. Inc. providing the lowest bid. The Engineering Division is recommending award of this contract to Maly Roofing Co. Inc. of Madison, WI for a total bid amount of $93,500.00. The bids received are shown below: 2 Maly Roofing Co. Analysis Included in the ‘Background’ section. Conclusions These contracts support tasks listed in the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan. The 2017 Note included funding of $132,000 based on the total anticipated project costs since the borrowing preceeded the project bidding.
