Executive Summary Bids for C2020-17- Ice Age Trail Bridge Replacement, C2020-18 - Utility Structure Rehabilitation and Replacement, C2020-19 - Secondary Treatment Polymer Dosing System were opened on December 9 2020. City Recommendation The City recommends awarding contracts C2020-17- Ice Age Trail Bridge Replacement, C2020-18 - Utility Structure Rehabilitation and Replacement, C2020-19 - Secondary Treatment Polymer Dosing System as well as expressing the intent to borrow funds as outlined in the memo. Background C2020-17 Ice Age Trail Bridge Replacement – For furnishing all the labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the installation of a city purchased 70’ x 12’ prefabricated single span bridge kit including steel girders, wood deck, and wood railing; removal and disposal of the existing 50’ x 10’ timber trail bridge structure with timber support piling; new cast in place reinforced concrete abutments; supply and placement of approximately 80 cubic yards of heavy rip rap, 135 linear feet of turbidity barrier, 20 cubic yards of topsoil; supply and construction of treated wood bridge approach wing walls and railing; approximately 110 square yards of reconstruction of asphalt bridge approaches and trail; and incidental construction. 2 There were six (6) qualified plan holders. The contract estimate was $106,795.00. Staff received six (6) bids with Sonrise Construction, Inc. providing the lowest bid. The work will include replacement of approximately of 18 sanitary structures, 38 storm structures, 147 storm inlets and 23 water structures and rehabilitation of approximately of 111 sanitary structures, 20 storm structures, 6 storm inlets and 35 water structures. The work under this contract is associated with the City’s 2021 Street Rehabilitation Contract. 3 There were nine (9) qualified plan holders. The contract estimate was $1,460,694.50. Staff received four (4) bids with Bjoin Limestone, Inc. providing the lowest bid. The project includes site work, yard piping, structural, architectural, process piping and equipment, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, and instrumentation and control. There were three (3) qualified plan holders. The contract estimate was $860,000. Staff received two (2) bids with Staab Construction Corporation providing the lowest bid. The Engineering Division is recommending award of this contract to Staab Construction Corporation of Marshfield, WI for a total bid amount of $867.000.00.
