APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
th
The minutes of the June 20, 2012 were approved on a motion by Rick Berry and
seconded by Mary Conway. This motion passed unanimously.
MANAGER’S REPORT
Steve Loomis announced that both golf courses have exceeded their monthly revenue
projection. Steve is working with the School District regarding summer golf classes for
students. The Department of Transportation notified Blackhawk Golf Course that they will
be widening Racine Street and installing a new bike trail which may cause small temporary
interferences at Blackhawk. Steve Loomis informed the Committee that there have been
three new golf outings this year. He also said that 40 children participated in the golf
academy, First Tee. Steve feels that July will be challenging due to a lower number of golf
outings, including some cancelled outings that have taken place at the courses in the past.
The Committee was informed that 13 million gallons of water are expected to be used if it
doesn’t rain soon. Ed Stried commented that the courses are looking good despite the
drought. Joe Schneider stated that he expects to spend between $450-$500 to water the
courses for 15 minutes per day. He is also expecting the courses to suffer from lawn
diseases due to the warm evenings along with numerous weeds this fall. Rick Berry asked
several questions regarding water rates. Rebecca Smith will follow up with information.
DISCUSSION OF COMMITTEE SEPTEMBER GOLF OUTING
The Committee discussed options for their golf outing and by consensus are looking at
either September 19 or 20; details will be provided to the Committee members in the near
future.
The meeting adjourned at 6:35PM on a motion by Rick Berry and seconded by Dave
Langowski. This motion passed unanimously.
